Calling all employers!!! We need your help in providing a once in a lifetime opportunity to local high school students with disabilities...and it will only require 2 hours of your time! Are you willing & available to participate in a special event for some students with disabilities? Project Search is a vocational internship program at Winchester Medical Center created for students with disabilities from Winchester and Frederick counties. The vocational training program is in partnership with Virginia Division of Rehabilitative Services, NW Works, Frederick County and Winchester City Public Schools. Project Search is a year-long internship at Valley Health in which students work in departments throughout the hospital campus such as environmental services, food service, central supply, pharmacy and numerous other areas in order to gain work experience in preparation for the job market. Before the students graduate their program in late May, we are coordinating a "Reverse Job Fair/Speed Dating" activity on May 6 from 11am-1pm. We are looking for area employers to come to the student classroom at the Valley Health campus and spend some time chatting with the students individually about your business and the types of things you expect from employees. The students will be expected to tell you about themselves and ask questions about careers in your industry. They will be set up in their classroom with displays of their work and resumes to showcase their skills. We would like the employers to spend 7-10 minutes chatting with each student before moving on to the next, sort of speed dating style! I have attached a flyer that will outline additional details. We would love it if you would consider being one of our guest employers. So far we have representatives from Trex, Martin's and Kohl's Distribution Center. Once these students complete their Project Search program, they will be seeking employment in areas such as retail, stocking, food service, environmental services and maintenance to name a few however there will not be hiring expectations from our guest employers. Please let me know if you have any questions! You can RSVP to me, Samantha Greenfield, by April 15 as a participant
