Sick Leave Best Practices

Currently, my facility does not offer paid sick time, per our corporate standard since VA doesn't require employers to provide paid sick leave. In lieu of that, we have a "Perfect Attendance Day" program where employees can earn and bank up to four personal days a year by maintaining perfect attendance each quarter. I don't particularly like the policy because it generally causes folks to come to work sick for fear of losing their personal day for the quarter, which is unsafe and then gets other people sick. Some of my sister facilities have been able to implement sick time to replace the perfect attendance program because the majority of facilities in their areas offer sick time and we want to remain competitive. I'm curious what other businesses here in Winchester are doing (particularly in manufacturing)? I'm hoping asking the group will give me some additional legs to stand on to advocate for the change for my facility and better serve my employees :) Thanks so much!
